Maputo is the charming capital of Mozambique, formerly known under the Portuguese navigators name Lourenco Marques. In recent years, Maputo has become well known for its artist and musical scene, as well as its colourful cultural scene and a very good nightlife, with an excellent variety of restaurants, nightclubs, live music and exhibitions. A 2 night stay in the capital city is a great addition to a Mozambique beach holiday.
Maputo – 2 nights / 3 days
Day 1 – The Arrival:
You arrive at Johannesburg International Airport and catch a connecting flight to Maputo Airport, where you will be met and transferred to Hotel Cardoso. Hotel Cardoso will serve as your base for your stay in the capital, and it is conveniently located in the central district.
Day 2 & 3 – Exploring Maputo:
You will have two full days to explore Maputo. Included in your explorations is a half day guided tour of the city, looking at the colonial architecture, bustling street markets and sampling the wonderful cuisine. During the day, Maputo hosts interesting museums, lots of Mozambican culture and plenty of sea-food restaurants with beautiful settings along the waterside front called “marginal”.
Day 3 – The Return Journey:
After breakfast you will be taken back to Maputo Airport for your return flight to Johannesburg International Airport. Our service ends here and we hope you had a fantastic time exploring the Mozambican capital.
